Well, we’ve come to the end of the summer, and thus the end of my summer-series photo blog. I have very much enjoyed making the postings, and I have very much enjoyed all the feedback. A lot has happened over the course of 3 months. Maybe you, as well as I, can look back at these photos and remember specific weeks of the summer, specific happenings, with a dad napping as your reference point.

I end this blog in the most appropriate way I can imagine. A few weeks back, an e-mail landed in my inbox from my father, with the subject line: “Napping.” Attached were these two photographs, which he had found in old photo albums and then scanned in for me:

Yes, this is me with my dad.

And yes, me with my grandfather. I have no memories of my grandfather. I believe he passed away before I was 2 years old. But here we are. Me awake. Him anap.

Well, it’s been a great summer here at mydadnapping.wordpress.com. As we come to the end of this summer, we also come to the end of this summer-series photo blog. I have very much loved the sense of stewardship this blog has provided for me, and I will miss it when it’s gone. And who knows, a new blog may be just around the corner…

To mark the end of the series, we will be updating the site much more regularly, 2-3 times a week. Monday will remain the reliable day, but do check back throughout the week. More and more and more naps to come…

(Oh, and if you hadn’t guessed, this is me napping…)

International Dad Nap 1

Taking a break this week from my dad’s naps. Here are some other dads’ though. Hannah’s dad is below, and here, we see a man in Diyarbakir, Turkey, napping in the trunk of a car. I imagine him to be a dad, can’t confirm that though (c. 1979).

Hannah writes, “I showed him the blog (which he loves…) and he offered to stage a napping photo shoot, but I opted for authenticity.”

My dad offered the same thing Hannah; I declined as well. Way to stick to your principles!
